For Architecture Week 2007, the Wool'n'Boat crew were asked to explore
sustainable housing, traditional building materials and techniques.
Wool is a great insulator in abundant supply and it has low flammability.
So we asked ourselves, How can we create a warm, cheap home that
eveyone can make from wool?

So here it is, one/two man accommdation which will keep you warm
throughout the night, it is very sasitfying and cheap to make with your
own hands!

In this picture you can see we have already laid the house design which will be seen on the outside and we are now laying the fibres which will make the patterned surface on the inside

How to lay fibres for the inside of the wool'n'house

See how Sue lays the fibres first one way and then the other..

after laying the inner fabrics, start laying the fibres for the second side

Here we have completed the first layer and are now laying the other side on top of the inner fabric. We use the inner fabric to to create an opening in the middle so we can get inside

the fibres are all laid out, just waiting for the windows and doors to be added

We've finished laying the natural fibres for the walls on the second side...

laying the house features on the second side...now we add the windows and doors on the second side
